Marcie Fergus – Owner and Director

Marcie Fergus is the owner and artistic director of Spotlight Dance Studio. Marcie’s dance training began at age ten, and she has been dancing and teaching for many years since. Always ready to be a student herself, Marcie feels continued dance education is essential in order to keep bringing fresh, new ideas to her students. Ms. Marcie was asked to guest teach at Washtenaw Community College. Her choreography has won numerous top honors at regional and national competitions. Marcie has a warm approach with all students young and old and believes in the importance of teaching students “How to Dance” and not just giving them a routine.

Sara Ray – Company Director

Sara Ray is the artistic director of the Spotlight Performing Dance Company. Ms. Sara began her training at the age of four. She has been honored with scholarships to attend dance intensives all across the United States. Her training consists of jazz, tap, hip hop, ballet, lyrical, and modern dance. Spotlight Performing Dance Company has won numerous top honors at regional and national competitions. Ms. Sara has won several choreography awards for her innovative and creative work. She is the driving force that makes her students excel and strives to offer the “best” in dance education.

Kayla Daley – Instructor

Kayla is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University where she received her bachelor’s degree in Business and Dance. She has performed both nationally and internationally, most notably performing at the American College Dance Festival and the Dance Grand Prix Italia.  During her time at Eastern, Kayla received the Dance Major of the Year Award, and her choreography was selected to perform at both the Undergraduate Symposium and the American College Dance Festival.  She was also a team officer on the EMU dance team and vice president of EMU’s Dance Forum.  Her training consists of Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Modern, Pom, and Lyrical.  She has been dancing since the age of five and has competed in numerous dance competitions, receiving national recognition as part of a national performance team. Currently, her choreography for Spotlight Performing Dance Company has won her choreography awards as well as top overall scores.  Other than dance, Kayla has been a choreographer and instructor for color guards, pageants, and theatre productions.  Her main focus as an instructor is to provide encouragement and inspire students to be the best they can be through quality dance education.
