Classes are offered in Ballet, Lyrical, Jazz, Tap, PreDance, Hip-Hop, and Pointe. Students are placed by age and skill level as determined by the instructor.
Class Descriptions
JAZZ
Jazz dance utilizes the various rhythms of music combined with disciplined isolations of the body. Classes consist of center floor and across the floor techniques and varied stylistic combinations.
BALLET
Ballet technique is a highly disciplined training in which a fairly standard progression of exercises builds the strength and flexibility required for classical positions and steps. Significant emphasis is placed on body awareness and terminology.
LYRICAL
Lyrical is a form of dance that incorporates the interpretation of the lyrical quality of the music through movement.
TAP
Tap dance is the use of both feet to perform rhythmic steps and combinations. The mastery of this dance style becomes evident in the syncopation of body, feet and rhythmic routines.
HIP HOP
Hip Hop utilizes the body movement of jazz. More precise movements in sync with the beat of the music. Music is fast and very rhythmic.
PRE-DANCE
PreDance introduces the young, beginning dancer to ballet, tap and tumbling. Classes are structured to provide exposure to the fundamental techniques with emphasis on enjoyment of dance.
Class Levels
BEGINNING
The student has had little or no dance training or it has been a long time since the student has studied dance. Beginning level classes introduce the vocabulary of dance technique and build a basic foundation.
INTERMEDIATE
The student has achieved a working knowledge of dance technique fundamentals introduced in beginning level classes and has achieved strength and flexibility.
ADVANCED
The student is ready to work on all facets of dance technique, having achieved a considerable amount of strength and flexibility. Emphasis is placed on the exploration of dance as a performing art.
